Case Study 06
Google Play Gift Cards — Prism Graphic System
Problem
Google Play gift cards needed a refreshed visual system that could stand out in crowded retail environments while remaining flexible enough to scale across U.S. and international markets. Existing designs lacked a unified, ownable graphic language that could adapt to regional requirements without fragmenting the brand.
Solution
I led the concept and design of a new prism-based graphic system for consumer-facing Google Play gift cards. The system introduced a bold, modern visual language that felt premium at shelf while maintaining brand clarity. I provided ongoing creative feedback to internal and regional Google design teams, managed external design agencies, and presented concepts within cross-functional groups to ensure alignment across brand, marketing, and retail partners.
Outcome
The prism system delivered a globally scalable gift card design that improved retail shelf presence and reinforced Google Play’s brand recognition across multiple markets. The modular approach allowed regional teams to adapt the system efficiently while preserving visual consistency worldwide.
Key Insight
Design systems for global retail succeed when they balance strong central identity with regional flexibility—creating a framework that empowers teams to adapt without diluting the brand.
